Doc Doc Doc.....

Yesterday we went to a nice place for trekking called skandagiri mountains. locals know it as kalwarahalli beta. It is off Bellary Road (NH-7 Hyderabad-Bangalore Highway), and is very close to Nandi Hills and Chikkaballapura. The peak is at an altitude of about 1350 meters. It is every adventurer’s paradise with beautiful night trek, stunning sunrise, and serene and swimming clouds that sometimes limits visibility to just a few meters. Its actually famous for its Moonlight trek, but we din't have time, so went at day time..

Skandagiri is one of the hill forts in the Nandi Hill ranges. The dilapidated walls of  Tipu Sultan's fort can be seen even today . History says this was a small but strong hill fort. Tipu Sultan reportedly captured this fort from a local ruler by bribing two milk women who used to supply milk to the ruler to poison him and his men to death. It surrendered to British troops on 19 October 1791. It remained in British hands until the peace treaty of 1792, which concluded the third Anglo-Mysore war.

How to get there ?
We actually took bus, but if u have your own vehicle, it will save time and money. We started from our place in whitefield to majestic bus stand. From Majestic bus stand, we took a KSRTC bus to a place called Chikballapur(70 kms). It takes about 60-75 mins to reach chikballapur from bangalore. Once there we took a Auto to a place called Papagni Matt (5 kms). Ask for Papagni matt or Papagni betta, no one knows kalvarahalli betta or skandagiri. Once you reach there, u'l find a temple at the foot of the hills. u got ample parking space there. There will be some people who will be asking if u need guide. Dnt take it, the routes are straightforward. There are arrows everywhere and its straightforward. Though we somehow managed to loose track and wandered into dense jungle.. that was scary. We somehow got back on track, with a help from some local goats:)

Time Taken
It takes about 2 hrs to climb up for professionals, for amateurs , it might take about 3-4 hrs depending on ur skills. and about 1 hr to come down. We were very much amateurs so it took as bout 3 hrs to reach the top. The best part of the trek was it never seem to end. You reach one point at the top, thers another dilapidated fort remains to reach, it never seems to end. Though it got a little frustrating and tiring for us, we somehow managed to reach the top. But the view from the top was so spectacular, we were all energized after that. By the time we started coming down, it started raining, but we  managed to come down safely within an hour.

Things to take
Make sure you hae enough water, food and first aid. There is nothing available for the entire trek. Take good torches, if ure doing a night trek.

Finally as we got down and left, we got a beautiful view of the hill we just climbed, it was beautiful. Over all we were happy that we conquered the peak :)

Anesthetist who??

Posted In: , . By s.H.a.S.h.I

These days, when i meet new people. I kinda don't want to say what im doing. because they don't understand wht do i do. Thers very little information about anesthesia or anesthetists among common people.
Few people have asked me, 'such a branch exists?' , 'sumtin related to asthma ?' , 'whts there in anesthesia - just make the patient sleep'. While in some the knowledge of anesthesia is limited to chloroform, an agent leisurely abused in bollywood. Well such weird and discouraging questions are just a small example of the amount of ignorance among common people.
I just want to put up a broader perspective of this reality. Anesthesiologists just don't make the people sleep, they also take care of the intensive care unit, trauma centres etc. They are usually the first person to be called in an ER, in case of emergency, usually life threatening circumstances. They handle specialized ventilators, and are often the last mode of help, when there is a difficulty in intravenous line. They are usually the part of all emergency teams in hospitals. Even in lot of surveys done across the world, even in the most educated of all countries, the info regarding anesthesia is very less.
Basically its a thankless job. because the patient usually comes to anesthetist either for a surgery or a dire emergency, there is not too much interaction with the patient. Like In a big budget movie, everyone sings the praises of the Actors or directors, the cameramen, choreographers, or editors, dont get so much credit like the others. Similarly in any successful surgeries, the limelight is on someone else. One senior doctor had rightly commented, Anesthesiologists are ' backbench doctors'. still no qualms about it , coz thts how its gonna be in the future too. I chose this field not for popularity but out of interest.
Adios

Sabse Bada King !! Manmohan Singh !!

Posted In: . By s.H.a.S.h.I

There has been kind of astonishing results in the General Elections 2009. The United Progressive Alliance led by Congress have had a landslide victory in this elections. The result is a one of the most phenomenal result over a decade.
All the kingmakers, aspirants, Heroes are out. Now the long and twisted wish list of potential kingmakers lie in tatters as they wake up to the post-poll reality. The numbers, on which they were shoring up their dreams, are not simply not with them this time round. Theres only King, our honourable Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. Singh is in!!! Whatever may be the comments. Some say hes a weak leader, some say hes a visionary. Some say hes a puppet in the hands of Sonia Gandhi, some say hes a great leader. Whatever it may be, whether u love him or hate him, you cant deny the fact that his hardwork, sincerity, charisma, determination has been a major factor in congress' big win. Hes been at the helm of lot of criticism lately. The Nuclear Deal was a one of the biggest achievement of UPA  government and i stand for their decision.
Even as the politically underrated Manmohan Singh, equanimous in victory, spoke at the 10 Janpath residence of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, thousands of frenzied supporters shouted slogans, danced and exploded firecrackers on the streets.
He said 'We have an obligation to the people of India to provide a stable and secular government,' underlining the two core themes that helped the Congress retain power in one of most fiercely fought electoral battles since independence 62 years ago.
Today's thumping victory was widely credited to the unassuming Manmohan Singh, who only five years was propelled to the top post after the Italy-born Gandhi refused the prime minister's job. With this, Manmohan Singh has achieved the distinction of becoming the first prime minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to be returned after completing a full term in office.

Let me see you everyday
Let me see you smiling...

Let me see you waiting in the sun
Let me see you dancing in the rain...

Let me see you curling your beautiful hair
Let me see the twinkle in your mesmerizing eyes...

Let me hear you talk on and on
Let me listen to you all day long...

Let me hold your soft and caressing hand
Let me lend you my consoling shoulder...

Let me little closer to you
Let me bask in your wonderful aroma...

Let me look into your eyes
Let me stay that way for a entire life...

Let me hold you in my arms
Let me say " I Love You" .....

I have a Live Traffic widget in my blog which shows the where do my visitors come from, like from which site they usually aland up in my blog.
Everytime i access my blog, i have a habit of looking whos visiting. Most of my readers come from google search. Im surprised with the amount of google search used by people all around the world.
I realised most of my visitors searched for birthday rap and landed into the post named ' birthday Rap ' a rap i had composed for a friend of mine. Im getting maximum visitors for this post of mine. I was surprised my bday rap or crap became so popular ...lol
The 2nd most common search was Republic day. I was so thrilled to see so many of indians staying in and outside india, still value days like these close to our country's history. I posted this post with title ' Happy Republic Day ' about a year ago. Just to tell many of us ignorant people, what it meant. It was great to see at least a few visitors commenting and thanking me for my effort.
Its nice to see Indian youth interested in Indian history. We sure are proud of being Indian, but we need to show it to our country and do something good for the development of our country..

Earth Hour 2009

Posted In: , . By s.H.a.S.h.I

Earth Hour is an initiative by WWF (world wildlife fund), a campaign against global warming.
Its based on an idea that switching off our electricity for 1 hour in an area, locality can aid a lot against Global warming. Imagine a whole city shutting off lights, the effects are really exponential.
Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights.
In 2009, India joins Earth Hour for the first time. New Delhi and Mumbai are among 825 cities across 80 countries and territories that have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009.
In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet.
VOTE EARTH campaign was simple by just switching off the lights for one hour on Saturday, March 28, 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm local time.
I was in the hospital, during this time. As im on call in the hospital, I cannot switch off the whole hospital lights. I did my bit by switching off lights in my room and  the adjoining rooms for 1 hour between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm. and i felt really good about it. Imagine the effect of switching off lights in the entire country and world would be. This campaign is phenomenal and the attention and importance that it has got is even more encouraging. Its a small bit we can give back to mother earth. If we can have similar campaigns every year, the results would be really great..
Kudos too WWF to come up with such a wonderful idea and successfully campaigning it..

When You Can't !!!

Posted In: , . By s.H.a.S.h.I

God has made this world, with so many incidents, lives, needs intermingled with each other. I used to think that thers always some solution to a problem.
But my beliefs came to an abrupt end, when i recently met a patient. She was a mid 20 something lady. If u wud look at her past, u would say, shes any normal girl going to school, college and so on. She finished her bachelors degree in Arts.
One Day all of a sudden, She had pain in the neck and weakness in the limbs. Her Family being in a village, they wend to some local ayurvedic practitioner. Don't know what he did, but he put some needles in the neck of the girl. And now you see her after about 6 months, shes on a Wheelchair, with her head completely flexed to her chest, she can't lift her head, she can't walk , her hands and feet have become weak. Shes been in the same state since almost 4-5 months. Im not a senior doctor, But the seniors in our hospital assessed her, whether anything can be done for her. But we finally realised her problem had progressed to such a stage, nothing can be done about it. This was their family's last hope, they went everywhere across many states to find a solution for the girl, but same answer everywhere. Ours being a very superior and tertiary hospital, they had high hopes that their girl would be alright. As the girl was waiting after her assessment, she was a bit sedated, but she was talking to me, about how her mother takes care of her everyday, feeds her, helps her lie down on the bed somehow, massages her limbs and neck with oil. As she was talking tears rolled down her eyes. She said , its better to die, rather than living such a painful and dependent life. Even though she was so dependent, she was very brave and confident.
Usually im not that sentimental guy, and being in this profession, ive learnt to be so, but as the girl was talking, I felt really bad and it hurt me to the core, that even with so many medical advancements, we can't give that young girl her life, a life any girl would atleast want, to live with their family, get married, have a happy married life. It hurts to imagine that maybe she would be in such a way her entire life. It hurts to say ' we can't do anything'.
As i went to the ward today, i saw her in one corner of the ward sitting in her wheelchair, writing something in a notebook. I thought maybe she has good writing skills, she could learn to survive in life. But i din't have the courage to go near her. Then her relatives met me, they were still enquiring, hard to believe that thers no treatment option for her. Her brother told me, that their mother is so upset about her daughter, that hes afraid she might get a heart attack or something... I felt helpless...
Hope she finds some way to help herself in life.......

Bangalore Indiblogger meet 2009

Posted In: . By s.H.a.S.h.I

Yesterday evening I went to this bangalore blogger meets by Indiblogger.in . Indiblogger.in is a blog directory website for indian bloggers as well as some cool forums and other stuff.
So first time I was going to any bloggers meet, so was really exciting. It started with a 1 minute of fame for all the boggers, where you had to introduce yourself. I turned up a bit late, so missed out on that. but no issues, there were really interesting introductions..
Then there was a talk on security issues for bloggers, which was really informative for people like me..
Nxt was launch and a sneak peek at windows 7 by two guys. They had a nice ppt presentation, but kinda boring for me, coz I had no clue about all the technical stuff. But nevertheless , they had a decent presentation.
Next session was clearly the best - the eating session, we gulped some tasty pizzas, and cola, felt really refreshing:)
In the end we wrapped it up with a nice group discussion on blogging, monetization, twitter and other stuff. we were enlightened by a guy named Sherin, he called himself  'The Money Maniac' , he shared with us his tactics of getting higher pagerank, monetization tips etc. That was amazing..
Overall it was a great meet, good getogether, looking forward to attend some more similar meets..

Another disappointing game !!!

Posted In: , . By s.H.a.S.h.I

Yesterday, i met 2 fellow Arsenal fans, So we decided to watch the Arsenal game together. After a long time i was watching game wid fellow gooners. The game was against Sunderland.
As we were watching the game together, we were excited about the match, and we were confident we can grab a win, specially after the midweek trashing of cardiff. And the new boy Andrei Arshavin was going to make a debut. So we were even more excited.
As the game started, Arsenal made a good start, with couple of close chances, 2 of them from Arshavin. Van Persie missed a sitter in the opening minutes of the game, and i guess that cost us the match. The midfield were not that effective in creating chances for the strikers, And when they did , there was no one in the box to take that crucial headers. Van persie and bendtner totally looked out of place. Denilson and Song hardly created chances and game finally ended in a 0-0 draw. Arsenal's 3rd consecutive 0-0 draw in the league. Was really frustrating specially after a very good game in Midweek. Whats even more frustrating is wenger doesn't do anything about it. The formation is not suitable, there are not much penetrations, we can't take advantage of set piece situations, no free- kick specialists.
Only positive i can take from the game was Andrei Arshavin. he showed some lively spark at the beginning of the game. Hope he can blossom at the club.
God save arsenal...

In the recent past, Many parties and small organisations have taken into hooliganism in the name of protecting Indian culture.
Latest incident was in Mangalore, where a group of activists from 'Ram Sene' barged into a pub and pulled out young girls and started, molesting and assaulting them. And then 2 days back, a couple was pulled down from a bus and beaten. why? A hindu girl was with a muslim friend. What kind of democracy is this. How can a group of people, take law into their own hands in the name of moral policing and start attacking innocent citizens.
There will be no safety for woman in india, if such attacks continue. What Indian culture or Hindu culture they're talking about. Cultures never remain stagnant in a society. Cultures are always evolving and has to be progressive. While they take about the 'the bhartiya naari' . They don't understand you can't standardise any way of living, everyone have their way of living and should be allowed to do so. No one has the right to interfere with someone's way of living.
The great indian culture these people are talking about , is the very origin of the Sexual expression , ' The Kamasutra'. the sculptures in khajuraho rather depict various sexual positions and expressions, and is among those ancient beautiful monuments which is regarded one of the beautful works of Art. Isnt these things offensive for this people. But couples walking on the road or hugging each other even though they are related is offensive.
The Government here should take a hard stand against such hooliganism, which they wont because, it will affect their party alliances. First It was Shiv sena in maharashtra, and now Ram sene in karnataka, Half of the people doing these things, don't know why they are, they have been provoked and brain washed by their leaders like Mutalik of Ram sene.
If Govt. can't handle this, We citizens should form a parallel organization to handle such hooliganism.

These days i get very little time to come online and blog. I keep thinking about stuffs i need to express in my blog, but when i actually get time to write, i kinda forget what to write,. Its like a though block.
Has anyone faced with such situations. But for me it feels a bit familiar.
Its happened to me quite a lot of times, Its like you are longing to talk to someone special for a long time. And keep thinking about what all to say to that person. But when finally time come , you sort of suddenly black out. Well thts very frustrating.
My days at work are going pretty fast, from giving general anaesthesia, managing cardiac surgeries, Intensive care unit to going back to my bed at night thinking bout someone and somethings. Lifes been a rollercoaster..
I hope to keep blogging more often...
